The Sounder-Saints dominated Sunday night's Western Conference playoff against the Mile High Edge, but watched at least a dozen scoring chances go begging until midfielder Tafara Pulse finally pounded the ball into the back of the net in the 76th minute giving the Seattle women the only goal they would need to get them into the USL W-League Final four.

Mile High started the match strong and looked dangerous for the first two minutes. After that Kelly Kronkite and Zahra Lechak got control of Seattle's back line and dominated the talented offensive duo of Ymara Guante and Katie Antongiovanni. There play allowed Kelli Smith and Katherine Reynolds to push up and support the offense from their outside back positions.

The Sounder-Saints atacked in waves with Chalise Baysa, Malia Arrant, Michelle French, Tafara Pulse and Kelli Smith all having quality scoring chances in the first half. None of them could find the right combination to put the ball past Mile High keeper Isabel Briones.

When the goal finally came, it was from a Michelle French free kick taken from about 45 yards in front of goal. Pulse took the ball down in the box, then had it flicked away by the Mile High defense only to see it bounce right back to her off of Baysa. Baysa and the Defender went down in a heap and Pulse slotted the ball into the back of the net breaking a long goal scoring drought.

Seattle made the goal stand and will play in the W-League semifinals Friday night. The match will be televised on Fox Soccer Channel. Check your local listings or keep an eye on GuerrillaFootball.com for details.
