Can you believe 9 goals in front of 66,000. The MLS execs couldn't have dreamt that any better. Every element for success was realized. Beckham/Galaxy playing in New york, the biggest media market in our country. Then you get 66,000 seats filled. Beckham has two assists (a goal would have been great). Then three of New Yorks' stars score goals (Mathis, Angel, Altidore). On top of that, goals were scored all the way up to the end of the game. Ridiculous.

Now the big test is how many of those 66,000 fans will show up for the Red Bulls next home game on September 1st against the Chicago Fire. Although, I have to say that game will probably get a lot of fans since Blanco is coming into town. You almost have to wait till Sept. 22 for the game against the Revolution to see if Becks and Blanco coming into town did anything for Red Bulls ticket sales.

I think its tough for people to really want to go to Giants stadium. Its old, too big for soccer (small crowds anyway), and its turf. Once they get a new stadium, I think they will be able to sustain signifcant crowds.
