Jozi Altidore I feel is the future of the NYRB, whether he stays for a while, or there's a huge transfer fee for him that the team/MLS sees. He is like Eddie Johnson, but better. However, I think he is a little raw. With time (2 years), he could be #1 striker for USMNT.

Altidore is gone. He'll be in Europe sooner than ou think. MLS has no future with young players and this kid will be making bank real soon.

Jozy will be around for at least one more year. No way MLS is going to let him leave this soon the League this soon. As long as Angel and Jozy stay health and Mathis keeps having games like he did on Saturday, New York will be sitting on top of the Eastern Conference soon enough.

You're probably right. With the Beckham attention the league is getting (especially after the other nights game vs NYRB), the league needs to sustain attendance and their growing popularity, especially in markets such as NY. Therefore, the league needs to hang on to players like Jozy for at least another year or two before they sell him. But the other side to the argument is that he's only 17, still a little raw, and so much potential to be even better that a Euro team would like to get him at this age and stage of his career.

He'll be gone quick. But I think he'll get a bigger transfer fee than Freddy...he should anyway.

League is trying to unload Eddie Johnson right now, and apparently for there was a $10 mil transfer fee for him, and EJ rejected it. I hate to see these kids get the chance to play overseas and chose to stay in MLS.

League needs Altidore... Ny needs a big star and KC needs another strip mall...

I hear you, but you cant write off EJ just yet. Still young, too athletic. Needs to just work on touch and tenacity. He is kind of a big puss

EJ doesn't have the work athletic. I mean, it took him a year to fully heal and play after a big toe injury. That's ridiculous.

And apparently, next year he'll be getting the DP spot for KC, which means he'll be making at least 400k/year. Thats ridiculous. Jozi Altidore ison a dev contract and he is almost as good at age 17, maybe a little better

Development contract or not, Jozy is making plenty of money off of his endorsement deals, and if I remember correctly, he gets a bonus off every goal he scores. And, having him as a development player means that whatever he makes doesn't count against their salary cap.
